An Arkansas Bible reading marathon declares the Word of God, according to Mike Bishop.
Bishop appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" to talk about the marathon. "The point again of the Bible reading marathon was to proclaim God's Word, get it out in the open," Bishop said. He referred to Isaiah 55:11 which states that God's Word "does not return void."
Bishop said it started on Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The schedule is the same for Wednesday. The schedule is 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday.
"At the end of those 20 hours, the goal is that we have read every word of the Bible, all 66 books-Old and New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs," he said.
The public is asked to read. Bishop said people can schedule times and that slots are open. Anyone wanting to read for the marathon can call 870-350-0865.
Additionally, he talked about the National Day of Pray set for Thursday at 6 p.m. on the Court Square. He said he has been involved with it in counties Boone and Carroll for about 22 years. He talked about why it's an important day.
He highlighted national times of prayer in history. Bishop explained that these times were called for during challenges. He cited the time the Contentinal Congress called for one in 1775.
"We face a lot of problems in our country today, big problems, national problems," Bishop said. He added that his part of the country is not as impacted by those issues but said that they trickle down over time.
Later, he said that even though the problems are bigger than anyone can handle, they aren't bigger than God.
He also said that a Bible reading marathon has occurred for eight years. The full interview with Bishop is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
