BMW recalling thousands of cars with Takata airbags

BMW is recalling nearly 400,000 vehicles due to exploding airbag issues.

The auto manufacturer warns the cars may have Takata airbag inflators that can explode, possibly shooting metal fragments into the vehicle. The recall impacts some 3 Series sedans and sportswagon models made between 2006 and 2012.

Those vehicles include:

  • 2006-2011 3 Series sedan (324i, 325i, 325xi, 328i, 328xi, 330i, 330xi, 335i, 335xi)
  • 2006-2012 3 Series sportswagon (325xi, 328i, 328xi)
  • 2009-2011 3 Series sedan (335d)
