The Boone County Fair is approaching; anyone wanting an opportunity to show and compete with their animals has an opportunity with this event.
Kelsey Gregory appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" on Wednesday to talk about the Boone County Fair. The showing starts on Sept. 13. Anyone wanting to enter the fair to show their animals must be a FFA member or a 4H member. Boone County has a 4H club, and anyone not of FFA school age can join the 4H club.
Gregory, a member of the fair's board, has sat on the board for about five years. She said this "week of fun" is for residents of Boone County only, the week after that is for the district.
The county-dedicated fair consists of local 4H and FFA members who present projects that they have worked on for a year. "So, it's pretty special. We have a lot of local sponsors that are involved too, which makes it really nice," Gregory said. Later, she added that the board's "one and only" objective is to "support" and "give back to the kids."
She said she began to show cattle at about age seven. At another point in the interview, she encouraged everyone to see the bottle calf show on Sept. 14. More was discussed on the broadcast.
The full interview with Gregory is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
