Cape Fair Campground Swim Beach Reopens

An area swim beach reopens five days after being shut down due to high E. coli levels.

According to the release from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Table Rock Project Office, the swim beach at Cape Fair Campground was allowed to open back up on Tuesday after follow-up test indicated that bacteria levels were within the acceptable range for users of that area.

The swim beach was closed last Friday because of higher than acceptable E. coli levels that were found during routine testing. Follow-up testing by the Stone County Health Department shows the levels have dropped back to normal.

The Army Corps announced that several beaches on Beaver Lake as well as the Cape Fair location on Table Rock Lake had showed high E. coli levels following tests that had been conducted after the Memorial Day Weekend.
