Cape Fair Campground Swim Beach Temporarily Closed

An area swim beach has been closed due high E. coli levels found during a recent test.

According to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Table Rock Project Office the temporary closure of the swim beach at the Cape Fair Campground was due to the E. coli test result taken by project office personnel.

Corps Public Affairs Specialist Jay Woods tells Ozarks First that project office personnel test areas around the holidays and higher levels are not unusual after a high usage period. Woods said several beaches were recently closed on Beaver Lake for the same reason.

The Stone County Health Department analyzed the test results and will continue to test more samples until the beach is declared safe for swimming again.

A feature story on the closure can be found on the Ozarks First Website.
