A local farm is among 36 from around the state that was inducted into the Arkansas Century Farm Program Monday in Little Rock in ceremonies attended by Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Arkansas Secretary of Agriculture Wes Ward.
According to the release from the state, the Wilson Family Farm of Carroll County was included on this year’s list of inductees. The farm has been in existence since 1912 according to the release.
The Arkansas Century Farm Program recognizes Arkansas farms of 10 acres or more owned by the same family for at least 100 years. The Arkansas Department of Agriculture established the program in 2012 to highlight the contributions of these families to the agriculture industry as well as to the state.
604 farms are currently recognized as Arkansas Century Farms throughout the state according to the release.
