Conditions Not Good For Travel Due to Snow, Wind

Snow Thursday along with strong winds is making travel difficult throughout the Ozarks.

Ted Martin, Emergency Management Director for the City of Branson, says during an interview on KRZK's "Ozarks Now" program that quick moving snow and the strong winds caused flash freezing on some roadways causing some black ice situations and some accidents on the roads. Martin added even major roads like Highway 65 had slick spots and reports of several slide offs.

Martin added that even after the snow ends, wind chills in the 20 to 30 below zero range will make travel unadvisable and even with road crews out, the bitter cold conditions will hinder many  roadways from clearing up.

Several businesses, including Silver Dollar City, have already announced they will be closed on Friday.

Friday's forecast calls for Sunny conditions but cold temperatures and continuing strong northwest winds will see temperatures only in the teens with wind chill values still well below zero.

Winter Storm Warning remains in place for southern Missouri while a Winter Weather Advisory remains for northern Arkansas for the rest of the day while a Wind Chill Warning remains in effect for all of the Lakes Region into Friday.

Ted Martin also appeared on MY 100.1 and Branson 4 U Dot Com. The interview from Branson 4 U can be heard below:
