A Branson Institution celebrates a milestone today.

Dick's 5 & 10 opening the morning will mark the start of their 60th Anniversary after first opening their doors on July 14, 1961.

Dick Hartley started the business on Commercial Street in 1961 as Davis Paint Store which included variety items which with the help from his wife June and later children Melissa and Steve, grew Dick's 5 & 10 into the full fledged Variety Store which included a move to their current location on Main and Commercial Street in 1973.

Steve Hartley, who continued to operate the store after his dad passed away in 2006, shared during an interview Monday' on KRZK's "Ozarks Now" program about how last year's challenges with COVID led to the goal of making this year very special.
