Drought Levels Continue to Rise in Lakes Region

2023 is ending as a dry one in the Lakes Region.

The latest map from the U.S. Drought Monitor indicates that areas to the north and west of Branson has moved into a Moderate Drought Level while areas to the west remain Abnormally Dry.

Meanwhile in Arkansas, the Moderate Drought Level area goes into northeastern Boone and northern Marion Counties while the rest of the region remains Abnormally Dry.

The drought level has slowly increased in the last month due to low precipitation levels in the region.

Rain that has fallen in the region overnight is expected to end later in the morning with another rain of rain expected on Christmas Eve with one half to one inch of rainfall possible before ending Christmas Day.
