While this week's report from the U.S. Drought Monitor does not include data from Wednesday's heavy rain, an overall trend of dry conditions continues in the Lakes Region.
The area of Abnormally Dry Conditions has now expanded to most of northern Arkansas as well as the western section of the Lakes Region in Missouri in Barry County along with areas along the Boarder around Bull Shoals Lake in Taney and Ozark Counties. The dry conditions can contribute to elevated fire risk in the region.
While temperatures are expected to return to the upper 90s next week, there are periods of rain in the forecast for this weekend.
