Fred Barry Crooked Creek Nature Center Upcoming Events and More

Fred Barry Crooked Creek Nature Center has many events coming up.

Heather Pittman appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" talked Monday about the Fred Berry Crooked Creek Nature Center. She's the facility manager. She said the center hosts "Target Tuesdays," "Wild Wednesdays" and "Fishing Fridays" every summer week through the close of July.

Those days go from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. The Tuesdays focus on learning target-related sports.

Pittman said this Tuesday offers an intro to bowfishing, and she added that this is a new class; it is for youth and adults. Bows are provided to attendees. Registration is required for this class; it's almost full.

The Wednesday activities are more concentrated on younger attendees. This Wednesday, Pittman said, participants will learn about feathers and working on a craft project. Next Wednesday is a lesson on trees.

She also said that this Friday will having a lesson on fly fishing. Next Friday is general creek fishing.

A class focusing on introduction to 22 firearms and air rifles is on July 18. Pittman added that July 22 is the Arkansas National Wild Turkey Calling Contest.

The center will host the contest with the National Wild Turkey Federation. The center is in near Yellville, Arkansas on Crooked Creek.

It sits on 421 acres and is equipped with an education area, walking trails and a pavilion. It also has a free 3D archery range and a pay-to-play trap range. The center can be reached at 870-218-4387.
