Going Back to Standard Time, Change Batteries in Smoke Alarms

Area Fire Officials issue a reminder about changing the batteries in your Smoke Detectors while remembering to change the clocks back this weekend

"Having a working smoke alarm in your home is one of the most important maintenance steps you can do to increase the safety of your family," said Branson Fire Chief Ted Martin.

Most home fire deaths and injuries occur in homes without working smoke alarms. Branson firefighters want to remind residents of these three life-saving tips:

Install smoke alarms in each room of the home except for the kitchen
Test smoke alarms each month
Change the batteries each fall when we move our clocks back one hour.

Residents are also encouraged to develop a home fire escape plan with an identified meeting place outside. This ensures everyone will be accounted for and is a safe place to call 9-1-1 from.
