While the entire Lakes Region is under a Heat Advisory, the criteria for issuing that and other advisories is not the same through the region.
An Ozarks First Feature highlights how it works in the region which is served by three weather service offices, Springfield, Little Rock, and Tulsa. Each area of the country issues advisories based on their climate conditions which leads to slightly different guidelines from office to office.
For example, the Springfield and Little Rock criteria for Heat Advisories is a Heat Index of 105 or higher while out of the Tulsa office the threshold is 110 Heat Index or higher.
All of the Missouri Lakes Region is served by the NWS Office in Springfield while in Arkansas, Carroll and Madison Counties fall under the NWS Office in Tulsa while Boone, Marion, Newton, and Searcy Counties fall under the NWS Office in Little Rock.
The complete feature can be found on the Ozarks First Website.
