Investigation Continues into Death of Person Found in Trunk of Car

The Barry County Sheriff's Office is among the agencies investigating the death of a man found in a burnt vehicle.

According to the release this week from the Sheriff's Office, earlier this month officers were notified of a body that had been discovered in a burnt vehicle that had been towed to Schrader Towing in Shell Knob. DNA testing was done on the body which was identified as 55-year-old Lance McCullough of Aurora. The car had originally been discovered near Verona before it was towed. 

The release went on to say that the car was registered to him and his mother, Carolyn Gentry. told law enforcement that her son had been in possession of the vehicle and had not seen him in several days. 

The Missouri State Fire Marshall's Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol are also investigating this incident. 

The Barry County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information on this case to contact the office at 417-847-6556.
