The Founder of Bass Pro Shops is honored with induction into the Hall of Famous Missourians.
Johnny Morris received the honor at the State Capital in Jefferson City on Tuesday with Governor Mike Parson among those in attendance. In a twitter post, Governor Parson says Morris is not only being honored for what he has done for the state, but what he continues to do for Missouri in his continuing developments as well as conservation efforts through the Johnny Morris Foundation.
Morris founded Bass Pro Shops in 1972 as a fishing gear store which has become a major business which has expanded nationwide. In the Lakes Region, Bass Pro Shops has a location at Branson Landing with other properties including Big Cedar Lodge and the Big Cedar Group of Golf Courses, Dogwood Canyon Nature Area in Stone County, and the recently opened Tall Tales Restaurant in Hollister. In Arkansas, Morris also owns the former Dogpatch, U.S.A. Park south of Harrison with plans still in the works for the development of that property.
