Judge Orders Hold on Prohibition on Mask Mandates in Arkansas

A wild week in Little Rock ends with a Judge putting a halt to the Arkansas State Law banning Mask Requirements.

A recap from multiple media sources states that after the State Legislature failed to rescind the law it passed in the Spring banning entities such as schools from establishing mask requirements during last week's Special Session, Pulaski County Circuit Judge Tim Fox issued a preliminary injunction against the law based on two lawsuits filed, including one by the Marion School District where over 900 students and staff are quarantined due to a recent outbreak of the Delta Variant.

Governor Asa Hutchinson had urged lawmakers to allow schools to put mask mandates in place for school districts due to rise in cases and that no COVID-19 Vaccine has been approved for children under 12 years of age, but the request did not get enough support from legislators to pass.
