Lakes Area Lawmaker Among Group Seeking Vaccination Requirement Ban

Lakes Area State Senator Mike Moon is among a group of six Missouri Lawmakers asking for a Special Legislative Session.

According to the Associated Press, the Six Republican state senators have asked Missouri Gov. Mike Parson to call the special session to stop private businesses from requiring their employees to get vaccinated for COVID-19.

The Senators claim in a letter to the Governor that it is not right for people to have to choose between their livelihoods and the personal beliefs and the right to control their own lives. The Senators also state that the Food and Drug Administration has not given their full approval to the vaccine as a reason not to allow business to force vaccinations.

Dan Mehan, President of the Missouri Chamber of Commerce Industry, tells the Associated Press his organization opposes any government effort to restrict businesses in deciding this manner. Mehan says the courts of upheld businesses rights to require vaccines and that this is a key part to economic recovery from the pandemic.
