BRANSON, MO — Legacy Academy, a Classical Christian school in Branson, has constructed and furnished Legacy’s first playground at their new campus at the former Skyline Baptist Church with funds from the Tim Taylor Memorial Building fund.

Dr. Taylor was Legacy Academy’s Headmaster from August 2020 to August 2021 when he passed from COVID unexpectedly. To ensure that his desire and vision for Legacy Academy continues, his wife Lisa Taylor set up the Tim Taylor Memorial Building fund so that people could give to the one thing that Tim was so passionate about, carrying on a Legacy and raising the next generation in a Christ centered school.

Lisa Taylor, now Legacy’s Board President and Dr. Taylor’s wife said ”People were so generous in their giving to the building fund in memory of Tim. He always said, ‘Maximize your impact. Make every day have eternal significance.’ I know he would love the fact that this playground is building strong relationships. That was always what he was doing. His impact is still making eternal differences in the lives of the staff and students at Legacy.”

Kevin Agan, Dean of Students says "We are so pleased to have this playground in place not only as a blessing to our students, but as a tribute to Dr. Tim Taylor. Dr. Taylor played a crucial role in Legacy, and his influence is still present today. This playground will serve as a constant reminder of his willingness to be used as a "tool" for our Heavenly Father, Christ Jesus. Our desire is to fill this school with families that love the Lord, and seek a biblical foundation in their children's education and every other aspect of their life."

Kathryn Jones, Director of Administrations added “Dr. Taylor loved being outside with our students. He loved shooting hoops or throwing a football around. He worked tirelessly to find us a new campus for our growing school and I was humbled to see so many give to his vision for a new campus for Legacy Academy. The playground is a small but significant step in establishing a home for our school.”

About Legacy Academy

Legacy Academy is a private, classical Christian school in Branson, MO. In the spring of 2016, a small group of parents approached FBC Branson Pastor Neil Franks with the idea of starting a private Christian school. Over the next several months, numerous conversations led to the birth of Legacy Christian Academy during the 2016-17 school year. Legacy started at the First Baptist Church of Branson with a kindergarten class of 6 students. Having added one grade per year, today Legacy has 85 students in grades K-6. The Legacy Board of Education is committed to the continued expansion of Legacy through grade 12. Looking toward the future, our current sixth-grade class will be seniors during the 2028-29 school year, and the first graduation will take place in May 2029.

“Legacy Academy exists to develop mature Christ-followers to be poured out as salt and light onto the world. Through academic excellence rooted in the classical model, we strive to partner with parents to provide a Christ-centered education, dedicated to shaping students’ affections toward that which is true, good, and beautiful.”
