Man Accused of Making Threats Towards Ozark County Sheriff's Personnel

A man is accused of contacting the emergency line of the Ozark County Sheriff’s Office and making threats toward personnel on multiple occasions last year.

Fifty-year-old Brady Jonas of Theodosia is facing charges of first-degree harassment, making a terroristic threat and misuse of emergency telephone services.

According to the probable cause statement, a male allegedly called the sheriff’s office emergency line in the early afternoon of March 8 and indicated he was going to shoot everyone at the office. The subject reportedly continued to contact dispatch more than 10 times that afternoon with derogatory remarks and threats to shoot the office. The sheriff’s office reportedly remained open, but they were on alert and standby in case the threats were immediate.

On Dec. 17, a male, identified in the affidavit as Jonas, continued to contact the sheriff’s office nearly eight times on the emergency line and allegedly provided dialogue not related to an emergency. Jonas reportedly accused a specific dispatcher of kidnapping his daughter and holding her hostage. His behavior allegedly continued with harassment toward specific employees, the sheriff’s office and other members of the community.

Authorities went to Jonas’ residence on Pioneer Lane the next day and served a warrant for his arrest. He has since been released on his own recognizance, and is scheduled for a court appearance today.
