Man Dead After Officer Involved Shooting in Ozark

A man is dead after an officer involved shooting in Ozark Friday.

A press release from Sheriff Brad Cole posted by Ozarks First has identified the man shot by Christian County deputies as 52-year-old Travis L. Bullington. Next of kin has been notified.

The woman involved in the incident remains in critical condition. The Christian County Sheriff’s Office has not released her name at this time.

The 17-month-old involved in the incident was not hurt, but Sheriff Cole says the child has been placed in a safe home with the assistance of the Missouri State Children’s Division.

The Sheriff’s Critical Incident Team is conducting the investigation. The SCIT is comprised of investigators from sheriff’s offices in Greene County, Webster County, Lawrence County and Christian County.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office said the shooting occurred around 4 p.m. after deputies at the Christian County Courthouse on the square in Ozark responded to a man assaulting a woman outside the courthouse.

The man shot the woman as deputies approached and a deputy shot the man.
