Man Paroled on Drug Charges Back in Jail

A man placed on parole following a 2022 conviction for trafficking drugs is back in the Taney County Jail on new drug charges after being stopped on his scooter for not having a license plate.

Court documents show Sean Halpern is facing a new count of second degree Trafficking Drugs and delivery of a controlled substance. If convicted on the new charges, Halpern could be facing 25 years in state prison.

Investigators allege Halpern was driving a scooter north on Business 65, out of Hollister near the former Yacht Club, property when an officer spotted the scooter had no license plate. The officer initiated a traffic stop, and discovered he was revoked from driving.  A later investigation found a smoking device and other drugs.

Halpern is scheduled for arraignment on the new charges on Thursday, Oct. 5 at which time there will also be a probation violation hearing.
