New Taney County Prosecutor Could be Named this Week

The 46th Judicial Circuit Court is expected to appoint a new Taney County Prosecutor this week.

In an announcement by the court published in the Branson Tri-Lakes News, five people after applied to take the position after the passing of William Duston in May. Duston had been Taney County's Prosecuting Attorney since 2019 and had just begun his second term in office this past January. 

The five men that applied for the position are  Brad Hughes, Keith David Rouse, David S. Akers, W. Hampton Williams II, and Ron Gross.

According to the Branson Tri-Lakes News Story, the five candidates will appear before the three Judges of the 46th Circuit Court on Thursday morning at 8:15 at the Judicial Center in Forsyth and make a statement to the court before the judges discuss and decide on the person who will fill the remainder of Duston's term which goes through 2026. 

The decision became the court's when Missouri Governor Mike Parson declined to name a prosecutor which then shifted the decision to the 46th Circuit Court.
