No Charges at This Time in Fatal Berryville Shooting

No criminal charges have been filed in the shooting incident this month that resulted in the death of a woman from Berryville.

A release from Berryville Police Chief Robert Bartos posted by KTHS on Tuesday indicates that the department has completed its investigation and turned over their findings to the Carroll County Prosecutor's Office and that no charges will be filed at this time against any of the individuals involved.

The release also recapped the events that took place on May 18 at the Auto Zone location on West Trimble in Berryville. At 10:30 that morning, Izamar Paz and a male associate arrived at the business with the associate going inside making threats against Dayton Lawrence. The report stated that the threats were of a nature that led Lawrence to believe he was armed.

Praz and the associate and a third person returned around 1:30 when Lawrence got off work which led to an altercation between the males which led to Lawrence and Paz both drawing handguns and shooting at each other. Paz was struck several times and was taken Mercy Hospital in Berryville where she later died while Reynolds was not injured.

No mention was made in the release on whether charges may be filed at a later time.

A copy of the release from the Berryville Police Department is posted on the KTHS Website.
