NWS Issues Final Report on May 26 Tornado Outbreak, Update on Disaster Centers

The official path of the May 26th Tornado through Boone and Marion Counties from the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service has issued a final report on the outbreak of tornados that swept through Arkansas on May 26. 

The report indicates a total of 17 tornadoes struck the state that day, 15 of them during the early morning hours and two later in the day. 
One of the strongest storms was one that hit the Lakes Region as an EF-3 Tornado went through parts of Boone and Marion Counties, beginning just south of Bellefonte and moving east near Highway 62/412 until it ended just north of Summit. Four people were killed because of that storm while overall, eight people died throughout the state. 

Disaster recovery centers do remain open according to the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management. Some, like the Boone County Center in Harrison has gone to appointment only status. According to the Marion County Office of Emergency Management, their Disaster Recovery Center is closed for the time being. Emergency Management Director Melissa Penn says she will post an update on their Facebook page when more information if or when the Marion County site will reopen.
