One person dies in a house fire over the weekend in Barry County.
According to a post on the Seligman Fire Protection District Facebook page, fire crews responded to the blaze around 10:50 Sunday morning with the aid of firefighters from Washburn.
The release states that a two-story house was about 40% involved and while firefighters were fighting the blaze, the fire lines and nearby hydrants started freezing due to the extreme temperatures. Eventually units from Pea Ridge and NEBCO in Arkansas joined the efforts to put out the fire.
According to the release, one person was inside the home and did not make it out succumbing to the flames and smoke. The name of the victim has not been released.
