After a special meeting on Monday, Ozark officials come to an agreement on the process to eventually fix up the Ozark Mill Bridge.
The Ozark Special Road District had announced last week that the bridge would close for a few days this week to make it a one-lane bridge to relief stress on the bridge prior to a rehabilitation project scheduled for next year. Ozark City Officials expressed concerns about that and at the special meeting Monday, agreed to keep the bridge open with two-lanes but lower the weight limit from 15 to 5 tons.
Ozark City Administrator Steve Childers tells Ozarks First that while the bridge is in need of repair, it is still safe for traffic to use. Childers says the major rehabilitation project next year will require the bridge to be closed for four to six months.
