Governor Mike Parson signs the Second Amendment Preservation Act into Law over the weekend. 

The Governor States in a Facebook Post that the law prohibits state and local cooperation with federal officials that attempt to enforce any laws, rules, orders, or actions that violate the Second Amendment Constitutional Rights of Missourians and could impose a fine of up to $50,000 on any person on entity that assists the federal officials in trying to enforce laws against Missourian's right to legally bear arms. 

Several law enforcement officers in the region, including Greene County Sheriff Jim Arnott and Stone County Sheriff Doug Rader, state that though they are full supporters of the Second Amendment but have had concerns that this law could impede state and local agencies with working with federal officials on crime investigations. In his post, Governor Parson said that local law enforcement’s ability to assist federal officials in other instances remains unchanged under this legislation.
