Reeds Spring Primary School is adopting new strategies to manage classroom behavior, thanks to a $15,000 Hope Grant from the Silver Dollar City Foundation.
The grant will fund the implementation of Conscious Discipline, a program focused on fostering safety, connection, and problem-solving skills among students. It also includes a parent engagement component.
“Children must have their basic needs met before great learning can occur,” said Principal Adria Simkins. “This grant will help reduce teacher burnout, improve learning environments, and empower parents to support their children.”
The school will bring in a Conscious Discipline trainer twice this year to work with staff during the day and host a parent event in the evening.
“We’re seeing more parents eager to learn and apply Conscious Discipline practices at home,” Simkins added. “Ultimately, this program enhances both student well-being and academic success.”
