After over a month with little or now rain, the Lakes Region is seeing several rounds of rain move through.

After the initial round that hit the region Thursday morning, the Lakes Region is in the beginning of three rounds of showers and thunderstorms. The National Weather Service says the first round will bring mostly light rain to the region this evening and overnight with most areas receiving no more than a quarter inch.

After a break Sunday afternoon, the next round will see higher amounts of rain, especially along and northwest of an Ava-Branson-Berryville line where up to two inches of rain are possible. Areas southeast of that line could see up to an inch of rain.

A brief break is expected Monday morning before the heaviest rain predicted will hit the region with widespread two to three inches predicted with some localized heavier amounts in addition to the possibility of severe storms on Monday evening prior to the rain moving out on Tuesday.

The rainfall comes as the Lakes Region is in a severe to extreme drought from the over month of little to no rain falling in the region.
