The Salvation Army Midland Division announces that their units in Missouri and Illinois are standing by to open Cooling Centers during times of excessive heat under guidelines to reduce the potential for COVID-19 Spreads in their facilities.
In a press release issued last week by the Midland Division and confirmed to Hometown Daily News by Branson Salvation Army Captain Linda McCormick, the Cooling Center in Branson will be open on days of excessive heat from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm and provide hydration and snacks to those needing protection from the heat.
The Salvation Army Criteria for opening up the centers according to the release is when a Heat Advisory or Warning is issued by the National Weather Service or when temperatures are reaching 100 or higher or Heat Index readings getting to 105 or higher over an extended period of time.
McCormick said people can go to the Branson Salvation Army Facebook Page for information on when the facility on Stanley Street will be open as a Cooling Center.
