The Stone County Historical/Genealogical Society and Museum have a historic traveling exhibit on display now through Tuesday, Dec. 12.
After months of work and anticipation by the staff of the historical society, the SCHGSM welcomed a Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition called ‘Crossroads: Change In Rural America.’ to their event hall, located at 103 S. Main Street in Crane. The exhibit will be open to the public Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The museum will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 23, to observe Thanksgiving.
The exhibit is part of the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service Museums on Main Street program. According to the Museums on Main Street website, the goal of the program is to strengthen connections between the Smithsonian and museum and cultural organizations around the country to inspire a deeper understanding of our world and how it can be changed for the better for their communities and audiences everywhere. Museum on Main Street provides access to the Smithsonian for small-town America.
