The Impact of Wind Turbines

Wind turbines come with destructive results, according to Carolin Martin.

Martin is with Stop Wind Farms of Carroll County Arkansas. She appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" on Tuesday to discuss a project in Carrol that can impact Boone County. She said it's six miles from the Boone County line; Martin believes that is the incorrect location for the machines. The stated purpose of these turbines is the generation of green energy.

Despite such a claim, Martin highlights the negative results of them. She said the turbines occupied isolated places from 1980 to 2000, but that's changing. Now, companies are building these closer to homes.

Martin explained that that's a problem. She said asking someone living 1,500 feet away from the turbines will reveal that the machines have "made their life miserable."

The negative impacts are worse on cold and wet days. Martin also commented on shadow flickering.

The turbines blades create a strobe effect that can occur at almost anytime, even during a full moon. That flicker is a nuisance, even through blinds. More was discussed on the broadcast.

The full interview with Martin is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page
