Traffic Crashes Include One Fatality, One Serious Injury

Both Troop D and G of the Missouri State Highway Patrol work major accidents during the weekend.

One person dies in one of the crashes that occurs in Ozark County Saturday afternoon on Highway 160 east of Gainesville. The online report indicates that a motorcycle driven by 57-year-old Todd Huddleston of Tecumseh crossed the center line of the highway striking a pick-up truck. Huddleston was pronounced dead at the scene while a passenger on the motorcycle, 66-year-old Deborah Foote, also of Tecumseh, sustained serious injuries and was taken by air to Cox South Hospital in Springfield. The driver of the pick-up was not reported as injured. This is the 24th fatality in traffic crashes worked by Troop G of the Missouri State Highway Patrol in 2023. 

Meanwhile, a woman from Stone County was hit by a vehicle on Mohawk Lane east of Merriam Woods in Taney County late Friday night. The MSHP Report indicates the pedestrian, 36-year-old Crassa Coots of Blue Eye, was hit by a white car that accelerated from a stop and hit Coots. The vehicle fled the scene according to the report. Coots was airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Springfield for treatment of her injuries. 

No follow-up report has been filed yet on locating the vehicle involved in the crash.
