There are two hearings scheduled next week for information and input into two proposed districts around the Big Cedar Properties in Ridgedale.
The first one takes place next Tuesday October 11 at 10:00 am at the County Courthouse in Forsyth in the Commission Hearing Room to present the Petition for the Big Cedar Community Improvement District for public comment. The petition has been filed at the County Clerk's Office with maps available for public inspection during regular business hours.
Taney County Eastern District Commissioner Sheila Wyatt tells Ozarks Dynacom News that another hearing for a proposed Transportation Development District is scheduled for 1:30 that afternoon at the County Judicial Center also in Forsyth.
Taney County Western District Commissioner Brandon Williams tells Ozarks First that the tax proposals would only apply to Big Cedar and other properties owned by the company. Property owners would not have to pay the taxes unless they spend money at one of Big Cedar’s businesses.
Most of the money raised would be used to improve the roads around Thunder Ridge Nature Arena, such as 86 and 65, Williams said.
Traffic became an issue over the four days that Garth Brooks performed at the new Thunder Ridge Nature Arena.
