Young Harrison Author has Active Kickstarter Campaign

Young Harrison author Gunner Duck has a Kickstarter fundraising campaign running.

Gunner and his mother Holly appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" to discuss the campaign and more. They're aiming to raise $11,500 for the "newly illustrated version of the original Ninja Puppy book," according to the project's Kickstarter page. The new book is in hardback form. His mom explained that his five original books were all paperbacks.

The campaign has has pledges totaling to $4,128 at the time of writing this article. Holly did the new illustrations in part because hardback cover books need a specific page count.

The idea for the first book came to him in kindergarten. He combined two interests: ninjas and puppies. At the encouragement of his teacher, Gunner entered his book into a PBS Kids writing contest. He won first place in the contest.

The ten-year-old author has a sixth book written; he began writing books at age five. Holly said he finished writing it this week. The sixth installment of the children's book series will arrive this summer.

The series is available for purchase online. Anyone wanting more information about the books, donations or the upcoming event at Venue 121  featuring the new book, can contact Holly at ninjapuppyco@yahoo.com. More was discussed during the broadcast.

The full interview with Holly and Gunner is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
