MOARK Basketball Week Starts with Shootout Between Blue Eye, Branson

In a game that turned on several defensive plays, a Blue Eye Lady Bulldog and Branson Lady Pirate lit up the scoreboard during their on court meeting Monday.

The two schools, meeting in girls basketball for the first time in seven years, went through major swings during the game which saw the visitors from Blue Eye grab a 10 point halftime lead, only to see the home team ride a strong second half wave on their way to a 63-51 win.

While the halftime score had Blue Eye up 27-17, 20 of those points were by Lady Bulldog Senior Kaylee Wilson who would go on to score 38 for the game. Not to be outdone, Branson Lady Pirate Angel Craig also had a strong night, scoring 31 to lead the Lady Pirates.

The Lady Pirate picked up the pressure in the second half, scoring the first eight points of the third quarter then eventually getting the lead by the end of the period and slowly building the final margin from there.

While Branson is off the rest of the week, Blue Eye opens play at the Sparta Tournament Wednesday against Forsyth in a game that also will be heard on MOARK Sports.
