Barbara Suzet Anderson was born on July 27, 1944, in Duson, Louisiana, to the late Rilious and Weonia Anderson. She was the second of three children. Barbara was raised by her grandparents, John Mercier and Sarah Babineaux Mercier, both of whom preceded her in death, as well as her two brothers, Linden Anderson and James Anderson.

Barbara attended elementary school in Scott, Louisiana, and in 1959, her grandparents relocated to Houston, Texas. After her elementary education, Barbara continued her academic journey at Evan E. Worthing High School, from which she graduated in 1962. Following high school, Barbara made the decision to join her beloved father and stepmother, Birdia, in San Francisco, California.

While in San Francisco, she enrolled at San Francisco College, commencing her modeling career with diverse organizations. Barbara was blessed with four beautiful children: Rebekah, Kenneth, Nathaniel, and Constance, who were the source of her pride and unconditional love. Her deep affection for quality time with family and friends earned her the endearing title of the family photographer. Recognizing the importance of capturing memories through photography, she ensured that we could all cherish these moments forever.

Additionally, Barbara worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), providing care for patients in hospitals and nursing homes.

She was an active member of Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church and a dedicated supporter. She thoroughly enjoyed participating in the annual Bazaars and cherished the time she spent with fellow church members.

She leaves behind a cherished legacy that will be forever held in the hearts of her devoted family. Those who will carry her memory include her daughter Rebekah Taylor, her husband Brian, and their daughter Brejelle. Also holding her dear are her daughter Connie Devine and Connie's children: Elisha, Gabrielle, and Ezra. Present to honor her are her son Kenneth Sims and his children: Jerae, Kiara, and Kiana, along with her youngest son Nathaniel Scott and his son Liam Scott. Her sister-in-law Nancy Anderson and Nancy's son Todd Anderson join in this tribute. Additionally, her nieces, Andrea Jackson, her sons, Kelvin Jackson, Jonathan Jackson, and Justin Jackson, her nieces Kalissee Parker Anderson-Mabry and Alex Anderson have gathered to celebrate her life. A multitude of other relatives and friends have also come together to pay their respects and commemorate her enduring legacy.
