Dr. David “Dave” Samuel Brixey

Dr. David “Dave” Samuel Brixey, age 76, of Branson, Missouri

Dr. David “Dave” Samuel Brixey, age 76, of Branson, Missouri, passed away August 19, 2023, surrounded by his family. He entered this life April 25, 1947, in Torrance, California, the son of Darrell and Mary (Monett) Brixey. Dave was joined in marriage August 16, 1969, to Dixie Mae Trimble.

Dave grew up in Ava, Missouri, graduating from Ava High School in 1965. He earned his PHD in Education. Dave had a servant’s heart dedicating many years as a coach, molding the lives and talents of numerous young men and women. Whether it was on the football field, a track, gymnastics arena or on the hardwood floors of the basketball court, Coach Dave strived for excellence from his athletes, both in sports and in the classroom. When he was not coaching, Dave enjoyed fishing, hunting, SCUBA diving, and flying his plane. After retiring from teaching, Dave drove school buses for five years. Throughout the years, he was the director at the YMCA, a photographer, a bail bondsman, and three-year president of the Goldwing Road Riders in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and five-year president of the Forest Park Estates.

Dave was very skilled in playing any string instrument and singing. His passion for music created a home that never knew silence and was full of love. Dave was in several bands in Oklahoma and Missouri. The silence now created in the life of his loved ones will remind them daily of the wonderful memories and moments created over the last seventy-six years. He will be remembered fondly by his students and missed dearly by his loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Darrell and Mary Brixey; father-in-law, Hugh Trimble; and brother-in-law, Lonnie Trimble.

Dave is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Dixie Brixey; his daughter, Leslie Johnson and husband, Kevin Johnson; granddaughters: Mikenzi and Chloe Johnson; brothers: Michael (Joan) Brixey and Paul (Debbie) Brixey; sister-

in-law, Debbie (Terry) Oakley; brother-in-law, Larry (Brenda) Trimble; mother-in-law, Ruth Trimble; several nieces and nephews; and beloved poodle companion, Susie Q.

The family would like to thank the wonderful ladies that came out from Terrace Hospice, especially Kylee, Jessica, Jaime, and Melissa. They would also like to thank the friends and neighbors that came lovingly to assist in Dave’s care from Forest Park Estates.

A celebration of life will be held Thursday August 24, 2023, at 11:00 am, at Cremations of the Ozarks, 115 Industrial Park Drive, Hollister, Missouri, with Lonnie O’Quin officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dave’s name to the Branson Humane Society (www.bransonhumanesociety.com).
