Gary Allen Schreiber

Gary Allen Schreiber, age 76, of Branson, Missouri.

Gary Allen Schreiber, age 76, of Branson, Missouri, peacefully passed away during the early hours of July 22, 2022, at home with his loving wife, Leann; daughter, Kelly; and grandson, Connor, by his side. In recent years, Gary repeatedly persevered through major heart surgeries and arduous recoveries against unthinkable odds. Such was the strength of will and determination he embodied throughout his life and inspired in those who loved him.

Born to Aldon and Dorothy Schreiber in Elma, Iowa, on March 13, 1946, Gary was raised in close proximity to extended family during his youth. In the late 1950s, Aldon and Dorothy relocated north to Minnesota where Gary would graduate from Osseo Senior High as a star athlete of the school's formidable wrestling team. After graduation, he entered the U.S. military where he proudly served the Air Force as a sergeant and mechanic of KC-135 refueling tankers while touring the West Coast, Thailand, and Pearl Harbor. Gary's final tour sent him to Thule, Greenland, where he assisted the recovery mission of the controversial Thule Air Base B-52 crash of 1968.

Gary met Leann while stationed near her hometown of Midland, Michigan. At the end of his duty, the couple returned to Minnesota and were married, which they happily remained for 54 years. Their daughter, Kelly, was born in 1971, and son, Ryan, followed in 1976. In 1980, Leann acquired her real estate license; soon after, Gary joined her in the business, sparking a fruitful partnership that would eventually blossom into the launch of their own firm, Design One Realty. In 2019, the couple retired to Branson, Missouri, a favorite vacation spot.

Beloved for his good humor, generosity, and encouragement, Gary was a great champion to his family. He strived to nurture our passions, beamed proudly at our accomplishments, and offered invaluable consolement during times of hardship. He was also a wonderfully grateful man, frequently expressing humble gratitude for his life's many blessings. His kind soul and spirit will be dearly missed.

Gary is survived by his wife, Leann (Hockey) Schreiber; children: Kelly (Whealdon) Schreiber and Ryan Schreiber; grandchildren: Connor and Sean Whealdon; brothers: Lee and Bruce Schreiber; nephews: Loren and Larry Schreiber; and nieces: Lori (Johnson) Schreiber and Pamela (Milanes) Schreiber.

Mr. Schreiber will be honorably interred at Springfield Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri. The service will take place August 1, 2022, at 10:00 AM, with a gathering of family to follow at his home in celebration of his remarkable life. The family requests those who wish to express sympathy consider making a donation in Gary's name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks. To leave an online condolence, please visit www.cremationsoftheozarks.com.
