Glenn Alan Hicks, age 82, of Kimberling City, Missouri.

Glenn Alan Hicks, age 82, of Kimberling City, Missouri, passed into the loving arms of Jesus in their home on March 30, 2024. He was born on September 27th, 1941, to his loving parents Glenn H. and Rosemary (Burrows) Hicks of Marseilles, Illinois. Glenn married the love of his life, Barbara Marco, in 1982 in Ottawa, Illinois.

Glenn spent most of his career working for one of the telephone companies…. Western Electric, AT&T, Lucent Technologies, Alcatel, and Nokia retiring in 1992. He worked as an equipment installer in the main offices in different cities all over the country. For a time, he also worked for Bell Labs when they were developing cell phones. When he retired, he helped his dad in the firewood business cutting and splitting firewood for sales to the campers coming to our local parks. He also enjoyed traveling, hunting, shooting, reloading, archery, fishing, boating, and his Ham radios.

Along with his dad and father-in-law, they started the local Civil Defense and volunteered as auxiliary police officers to provide safety and security in the community. He also assisted with disaster preparation in the event of a nuclear attack. Glenn was a quiet man who selflessly served others and always helped out wherever he was needed.

After many years of vacationing in the Ozarks, Glenn and Barbara retired to lake-life in Kimberling City in 2002. He loved spending time fishing and just exploring Table Rock Lake on their boat. He had always been interested in Ham Radio and attained his license and spent a great deal of time listening and talking to other Hams around the country and world. He was a member of both Kimberling Amateur Radio Club and Tri-Lakes Amateur Radio Club.

Glenn and Barbara joined First Christian Church shortly after moving to Kimberling City. Glenn took on the responsibility of caring for and displaying the many flags around the church parking lot on holidays.

Glenn is survived by his wife of almost forty-two years, Barbara Hicks, of Kimberling City, sons: Glenn (Anna) Hicks of Jakarta, Indonesia, Jason (Carrie) Lewey of McLean, Virginia, and nephew, who was like a son, Eric (Jennifer) Olson of Kimberling City.
