James Jeffrey Blount, Jr., MD, 87, of Forsyth.
The celebration of life service for James Jeffrey Blount, Jr., MD, 87, of Forsyth will be held Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024, at 4 PM, Snapp-Bearden Forsyth Chapel, Forsyth. Andy Hassen will officiate. James passed away on Oct. 30, 2024, at Forsyth, Mo.
James Jeffrey Blount, Jr. was born August 20, 1937, in Torbert, Louisiana to James Jeffrey Blount, Sr. and Lettieteen (Watkins) Blount.
He went to grade school in Baton Rouge Louisiana, high school was completed at Ozark Academy in Gentry Arkansas. College was completed at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge Louisiana. The first 2 years of medical school were completed in Guadalajara Mexico, and he graduated from the Seventh-day Adventist medical school in Monte Morelos Mexico in 1978. James practiced medicine in Wyoming for most of his career. When he retired from medicine he moved to his and Janiece's blueberry farm in Gentry Arkansas. In 2018 he and Janiece moved to the Forsyth area to be close to family. James married Janiece Hallsted, the love of his life, on January 28, 1956, at Ft. Smith, Arkansas. They celebrated sixty-eight years together this past winter. James and Janiece were blessed with five children.
He had many hobbies including flying. He was a private pilot and a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. He also enjoyed photography, building things, farming, green houses, and hunting arrowheads just to name a few.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son William David Blount, Jr., a brother Arthur Blount, a granddaughter Melissa Blount, and a daughter-in-law Rebecca Blount.
James is survived by his loving wife Janiece of the home, two sons James Blount III of Picayune, Miss., Charles Blount (wife Julie) of Gentry, Ark.; two daughters Chyrelle Blount (husband Steve Martin) of Springfield, Mo., Rachelle Bridges (husband Leonard) of Forsyth, Mo., fourteen grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Saturday Nov. 9, 2024, from 2:30 PM till service time at Snapp-Bearden Forsyth Chapel, Forsyth, Mo.
