James Victor Lupis

James Victor Lupis, age 73, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022, in Springfield MO, after a lengthy fight against lung disease, kidney disease, diabetes, and finally cancer.

Jim was born on Wednesday, April 6, 1949, the oldest of six children of James and Mary (Giuliano) Lupis in Los Angeles, California. He attended school in Costa Mesa, California, and served in the U.S. Navy Reserves.

Jim held various jobs in southern and northern California before moving to Manassas, Virginia in 1997. He owned and operated a residential home cleaning business there and retired in 2003.

Jim met his wife, Leslie McCormick, in 1995. They were married on December 22, 2004 in Manassas, Virginia.

Jim was an adventurous person, and loved riding motorcycles, skydiving, and piloting private aircraft. He enjoyed playing cribbage and teaching others to play. His favorite pastime was singing country music and hosting karaoke shows in the local area, for which he always donated his time. He always had a story to tell and loved entertaining others.

Jim was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Chapter 208, and the American Legion Post 676.

He is survived by his wife Leslie; his daughter, Michelle Francis (Chad) of Port Huron, Michigan; a stepson, Brian McCormick of Springfield; his grandchildren, Karen Voisard (Robert) of Davenport, Florida; Kevin Kaboni of Carthage, Tennessee; Kristen Kaboni, Brandon Kaboni and Jonathan Kaboni, all of Port Huron, Michigan; and seven great-grandchildren, all of whom he was very proud. He leaves behind many family members and friends who will sadly miss him.

The family wishes to thank the staff at James River Nursing and Rehabilitation and Cox Health at Home Hospice for their care and compassion in his final weeks.

Cremation is under the direction of the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home, Forsyth, Mo.
