John Clinton Porter, age 77, of Branson, Missouri.

John Clinton Porter, age 77, of Branson, Missouri, passed away on November 3, 2024, with family by his side. He entered this life on February 28, 1947, the son of Hobart and Lola (Pontius) Porter in Woodbine, Kansas. John was joined in marriage to the love of his life on October 28, 1967, to Joyce Ann Niemoller.

John honorably served our country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. During his time in the service, he was awarded with a Purple Heart Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Two Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, and Rifle Expert Badge. John was very proud of his time in the Marines and was a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, DAV and Veterans of the Ozarks. He also assisted with starting Vietnam Veteran Chapters of America in the area. After his time in the military, he worked for Navarre CO-OP for over a total of twenty-eight years in various positions and ended his time as a Feed Mill Supervisor.

The best husband, father, and grandpa, John centered his life around his family. He dedicated his time as a Boy Scout Leader and Hunting and Safety Instructor. John loved hunting and was an avid fisherman, which he taught to all his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed building model trains and sharing the love of trains by volunteering in the train section of the Toy Museum in Branson. John also was a member of ROMEO (Retired Old Men Eating Out). The memories and moments created over the past 77 years will be cherished forever by all who knew and loved him.

John is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce Porter of Branson, Missouri; children: Chantay Porter of Abilene, Kansas, Stacey (Jeremy) Hislop of Olathe, Kansas, Tonya Thrush of Abilene, Kansas, and Tina (Shawn) Lucas of Nixa, Missouri; grandchildren: Caleb Orr, Tyce Orr, Kinley (Chance) Miller, Chesney Sprinkle, Destinee Thrush, Teagan Lucas, and Eliza Lucas; foster daughter, Sonja (Mike) Pasquantonio; and foster grandchildren: Sofia and Ava Pasquantonio. He is also survived by his sister, Arminta Bye of Arizona; brother, Jim (Connie) Porter of Georgia; sister, Jessie (Ray) Hartke of Colorado; sister-in-law, Jan Porter of Missouri; brother-in-law, Harry Weiant of Colorado; cousin, Larry Porter and family of Missouri; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: L.H. and Robert Porter; sister, Esther Weiant; brother-in-law, Larry Bye; and nephew, Bobby Bye.

There will be a celebration of life with full military honors held Thursday, November 14th. Visitation will be at 10:00AM with a service following at 11:00AM at Branson United Methodist Church, 1208 W. 76 Country Blvd., Branson, Missouri, with Pastor Peggy Egbert officiating. A grave side service will be held at a later time in his hometown of Herington, Kansas.
