John Robert Wenger, age 80, of Hollister, Missouri

John Robert Wenger, age 80, of Hollister, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on January 27, 2024. He entered this life on January 18, 1944, in Boone, Iowa, the son of Reuben and Evelyn (Hess) Wenger. John was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Larry and Lee Wenger. He was joined in marriage on August 19, 1967, to Karen Sue Seeden.

A member of his community, John was active in the Hollister Board of Education and United States Junior Chamber (Jaycees) where he participated in making helpful decisions for the youth. He was a devout member of the Branson United Methodist Church for fifty-six years. John enjoyed sports, riding ATVs, golfing, and most of all his family. He will be remembered as a valued member of the community, and his family and friends will never forget the time they shared.

John is survived by his loving wife of fifty-six years, Karen Wenger; son, Scott (Gena) Wenger of Eagle Rock, Missouri; daughter, Stacey (Marty) Bowling of Walnut Shade, Missouri; son, Shawn Wenger of Ellsinore, Missouri; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Joann (Norman) Ritchhart of Des Moines, Iowa; brother, Jack (Linda) Wenger of Des Moines, Iowa; sister, Belva (Gary) Hansen of Bellevue, Iowa; sister, Teresa (Kim) O’Rourke of Washington, Iowa; brother, Doug (Karen) Wenger of Phoenix, Arizona; sister-in-law, Shirley Wenger; sister-in-law, Kay (Bob) Maddux of Farmersville, Texas; sister-in-law, Connie Larsen of Huron, South Dakota; and lots of nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 17, 2024, at the Branson United Methodist Church, 1208 W. 76 Country Blvd, Branson, Missouri.
