Joyce Kathleen Brake, age 61, of Branson, MO

Joyce Kathleen Brake, age 61, of Branson, Missouri, passed away August 8, 2021, at home with family near her bedside. She entered this life January 20, 1960, in Houston, Missouri, the daughter of George and Walcia Leona (Bagley) Sechrest. Preceding her in death are her parents, an aunt, Leota “Midge” Sechrest; and a nephew, Jesse Norris.

A very compassionate and loving person, Joyce would never judge anyone and was known as Christlike in her love for all. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Winona, Missouri. Joyce worked in various positions throughout her years to help others improve their lives. Whether assisting single moms and dads to get off public assistance or helping individuals find a new career pathway for better self-sufficiency—she loved helping people change their lives. She was great at making cheeseburgers and at making special memories around the table. Most of all she cherished her family, especially her grandchildren. Her favorite saying was “I love you more” and you know she meant what she said.

Joyce is survived by her three daughters: Cassandra Brake of Branson , Missouri; Angela (Bradley) Distler of Branson, Missouri; and Donna Brake of Ashland, Missouri; six grandchildren: Ashley (Joseph), Emily (Micah), Kayley (Thomas), Rylen, Joy, and Ryder; three great-grandchildren: Adrian, Lilah, and Naomi; four sisters: Judy McClurg of Birch Tree, Missouri; Julie (Darren) Norris of Winona, Missouri; Janet Buckner of Winona, Missouri; and Jennifier (Leslie) Mayberry of Winona, Missouri; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

A celebration of life is being held at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Birch Tree, Missouri. Services are scheduled for Saturday, August 21, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a local foster care agency, or Taney County Children’s Division in her name.
