Kathleen “Sue” Fincher Williams Hoppis passed from this earthly life into her new heavenly home on August 9, 2024. She was known as Sue to her family and friends. Mama Sue is what her many grand, great grand and great great grandchildren called her. She was surrounded by her loving and devoted husband Reed and daughters Cris and Lisa and adopted daughter Janice Thompson when she passed.

Sue was born February 5, 1934, in Bodcaw, Arkansas, and grew up during the depression that formed her tenacity and grit. She began working at 13 to help feed her brothers. She became a License Practical Nurse at Hope, Arkansas Vo-Tech and worked at Hope Hospital and Magnolia Manor in Magnolia, Arkansas. She was an excellent quilter and most of her family and friends were blessed with a beautiful LOVE made quilt. She also sewed many clothes for her family and friends.

Sue and Ed Williams were married on July 25, 1951, and he was her prince. He was a prince. He was a painting contractor, and they moved to Shreveport, Louisiana, where he provided Sue with very many opportunities and love. There were 3 children from this union which produced 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. She was blessed to be a 5th generation matriarch.

Years after Ed’s passing, she again was blessed to marry Reed “Sonny” Hoppis on November 12, 2009, and had such a good life being married to a loving husband. They lived in the beautiful Ozarks that she remembered from childhood.

She is proceeded in death by her first husband Ed Williams of Rosston, Arkansas. Father Doyle Fincher, mother Elvern Shipp Fincher Goodner, grandmother, who raised her, Carrie “Momo” Easterling Shipp Boles. Grandfather Robert Shipp. Son Larry Williams, her brothers R.D. Fincher, Ralph and Morris Goodner. Brothers and sisters-in-law John L. Lynwood and Gailon Williams, Jo Ann Anderson, Jane Belk, Martha Williams and Sybil Williams and grandson Jeremy Williams.

Sue is survived by her loving and faith filled husband Reed “Sonny” Hoppis. Daughters Lucrisia “Cris” and Ron Honeycutt (favorite son-in-law) of Eros, Arkansas and Dr. Lisa Williams of Richland, Michigan, stepson Kevin Hoppis of Harrison, Arkansas. Grandchildren Tori and Randy Light (her favorite grandson-in-law) of Everton, Arkansas. Jonathan Williams of Austin, Texas and Amy Williams of Shreveport, Louisiana. Great grandchildren Cassidy Walsh, Channon English, Cody Davis, Jesse English and Morgan Light. Great great grandchildren Cooper and Cora Davis, Zora Walsh, Maddie and Brooks Goodrum, Westin and Baylor English and Ryder Light. Brothers Jim and Chris Fincher of Lehi, Utah, Horace (Wanda), Mike (Robbie) and Mark Goodner. Sister-in-law and best friend, Virginia Williams of Buckner, Arkansas. Brother-in-law Wesley Anderson of McNeil, Arkansas and Ray (Theresa) Williams of Genoa, Arkansas. Also, there are numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be at Waldrep Cemetery in Nevada County, Arkansas. Please bring a chair, a dish for lunch and good memories of Sue to share. Pastor Daniel Williams will officiate at the memorial. Date and time to be determined and announced later.
