Leonard Francis Kring

Leonard Francis Kring, 82, of Branson, Missouri.

Leonard Francis Kring passed away peacefully in Branson, Missouri on the 14th of August 2024, at the age of 82. He was born on March 1, 1942, in the town of Teegarden, Indiana.

After graduating in 1960 from Polk Township High School in Tyner, IN, Leonard served in the United States Army as a Military Policeman and was stationed in Panama. Upon completing his military service, he returned home and attended the police academy in Indiana, beginning a career of over 30 years as an Indiana state police officer from 1965 to 1995, retiring as a Corporal. He was assigned primarily to the Lowell and South Bend, Indiana state police districts. In his retirement years, Leonard delivered RVs across the country and fell in love with the Branson area. He and his loving wife Reva moved to Omaha, AR and later to Branson in 2010.

Leonard was an avid outdoorsman, revered for his unmatched deer hunting skills and his love for fishing, especially for pike along the Kankakee River. He was given two fitting nicknames during his life, "Red" in his youthful days due to his striking red hair and "Festus" from the TV series Gunsmoke because of his impressive sharpshooting acumen. His life was one full of duty, love and stories which will be forever treasured by his family and friends.

Leonard is survived by his loving wife, Reva Kring of Branson, whom he married on the third of May in 1986, in Wakarusa, IN. He will also be deeply missed by his children, Vonda Young (and husband Scott) of Westville, IN and Len Kring of Coal City, IL; his grandchildren, Nick (and wife Stacey) Young, Zach Young, Jake Young, Dayton Kring, and Isabele Kring; and his great-grandchildren, Allison and Evan Young. He also leaves behind his brother, Charles Kring of Indiana. Leonard is predeceased by his parents, Francis and Pearl Kring, and his sisters, Angeline Klingerman and Karen Dawn Hamilton.

Cremation arrangements are in the care of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home & Crematory, Branson with no formal service planned.
