Linda Kay Phipps, age 82, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2024, at her home in Cassville, Missouri.

Linda Kay Phipps, age 82, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2024, at her home in Cassville, Missouri.

She was born August 24, 1942, in Springfield, Missouri, to Carl E. Henley and Christine (Hartley) Henley; both of whom preceded Linda in death. After graduating from Ava High School, and then from Southwest Missouri State College in Springfield, Missouri, with a degree in Music, Linda was united in marriage on June 5, 1964, in her hometown of Ava, Missouri, to Marvin E. Phipps, who preceded her in death.

Linda and Marvin had one beloved, special-needs daughter, Maria Kay Phipps, born November 11, 1968. Throughout their entire lives, Linda and Marvin, most lovingly and devotedly, cared for their “Special Angel, Maria,” as Linda referred to her, who also preceded Linda in death.  In addition to Marvin and Maria, one sister-in-law, Audra Stanifer, and one brother-in-law, Jim Crowell, preceded her in death.

Surviving family members include one sister-in-law, Nancy Crowell of Columbia, Missouri; three nephews, Bill Crowell, Ron Crowell, and Aaron Stanifer; three cousins, Lloyd Henley, Lorna Larson, and Susan Montgomery; and several niece-in-laws, great nieces, great nephews, special friends, and beloved caregivers.

Having majored in both Piano and Organ in college, Linda accompanied many musicians and choirs; and also, was the pianist, and an avid member of the Bell Choir, at Cassville United Methodist Church for many years. In addition, Linda taught Elementary and Junior High School Music, and First and Second Grades, as well as numerous piano students in her home.

Linda and Marvin moved to Cassville, Missouri, and they and their daughter Maria lived in their new home in Wildwood Estates for 15 years. They then purchased acreage on Highway 248, upon which they built another new home. Linda lived happily in that home until she died – but now resides, even more idyllically, along with Marvin and Maria, in her now perfect, heavenly home.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 28, 2024, at United Methodist Church in Cassville, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Jeff Fugitt will conduct the services. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cassville.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time Saturday at United Methodist Church in Cassville.

Contributions may be made to Barry-Lawrence County Development Center in memory of Linda.
