Merle Edward Crane, age 96, of Seligman, Missouri.

Merle Edward Crane, age 96, of Seligman, Missouri passed away Thursday, July 4, 2024 at Roaring River Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Cassville, Missouri.

He was born May 20, 1928 in Caldwell, Kansas the son of Edd and Ruth (Ryman) Crane. On October 6, 1957 in Newkirk, Oklahoma he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Naomi, who survives. They had 67 wonderful years together. Also surviving are one son, David D. Crane and his wife Marcie of Pearland, Texas; one daughter, Liona Oxford and her husband Alan of Seligman, Missouri; six grandchildren, David Crane and his wife Shelby, Andrew Crane, Katie Hayden, Grace Brock and her husband, Robert, Sarah Hayden, Heather Patrick, and her husband, Kourtney and seven great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents and son, Terry Wayne Crane.

Merle attended South Haven High School in South Haven, Kansas from where he graduated in 1946. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953, serving during the Korean War in the 82nd Airborne, Tank Division. Merle worked most of his life as a self-employed Electronics Technician. He had many talents and hobbies. Merle was an amazing woodworker, he made a variety of wood pieces that are in several different homes and businesses, including the church covenant and communion table. He enjoyed working with his scroll saw. Merle was fond of model airplanes and ships. He played the steel guitar and enjoyed strumming his guitar at music revivals. Merle was a member of American Legion Post 118 in Cassville, Missouri. He will be missed and never forgotten.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, July 20, 2024 at New Freedom Worship Center in Purdy, Missouri, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Blake Orr and Pastor Joe Wogoman will conduct the services. Burial with military honors will be at Macedonia Cemetery in Stella, Missouri.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 6:00 P.M., Friday at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville, Missouri.

Contributions may be made to New Freedom Worship Center or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in memory of Merle.
