Mike Felton Maloney, age 68, of Reeds Spring, Missouri
Mike Felton Maloney, age 68, of Reeds Spring, Missouri, passed away on September 23, 2023, with family by his side after a valiant 18-month battle with cancer. He entered this life May 20, 1955, the son of Walter Felton and Florene Maloney in Austin, Texas. In sixth grade, Mike met the love of his life, Cindy Staton at the Texas Theater, in Sweetwater, Texas. The lifelong best friends were joined in matrimony on August 26, 1978.
Mike attended first through twelfth grade in Sweetwater, Texas, excelling as a running back (#22 on your program, and #1 in our hearts) on the Mustang football team, and as a 400 meter specialist on the track. He graduated from the University of Texas College of Pharmacy in 1978. Mike worked for twenty two years at Maloney Pharmacy in Sweetwater until 2000. After which he moved to Ozark, Missouri, where he worked for Family Pharmacy for an additional twenty years at many of their regional locations, leaving an indelible mark on his colleagues wherever he practiced.
With marvelously talented hands, Mike was a gifted artist with an unrelenting passion to create. Mike specialized in bronze sculpture, drawing inspiration from nature, Native American culture, and western motifs. Mike was able to achieve his lifelong dream of opening an art gallery in 2021, when he opened Agua Dulce Spirit in Reeds Spring, Missouri. A lifelong outdoorsman, Mike was a prolific bow hunter and fly fisherman. As an avid fly fisherman, he enjoyed the tranquil waters pursuing trout in the picturesque trout fisheries of the Ozarks. Above all, Mike’s love for family was unparalleled. He was the best husband for over forty-five years, his children were the highlight of his life, and his grandchildren were consistent sources of supreme joy and inspiration. The love and memories shared over his extraordinary life will be cherished forever.
Mike is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Cindy Maloney of Reeds Spring, Missouri; daughter, Kelsie Tilley and husband, Chris of Clever, Missouri; son, Josh Felton Maloney and wife, Karly of Harrison, Arkansas; and grandchildren: Rylee Tilley, Maze Felton Maloney, and one on the way. He is also survived by his sister, Vicki Nazworth of Sweetwater, Texas; brother, David Maloney of Branson, Missouri; nephews: Scott and Bruce Felton Nazworth; nieces: Kristen (Russ) Souders and Kim (Will) Mayes; great-nieces/nephew: Kirkley, Kassidy (Souders), Sydnee, and Silas (Mayes); cousin: Kelly Woolley; sister-in-law, Kay Staton; and aunt, Golda Harris.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Florene Maloney, and parents-in-law, James and Betty Staton.
There will be a Celebration of Life held 3 pm Sunday, October 8, 2023, at McCoy Funeral Home, 401 East 3rd Street, Sweetwater, Texas 79556.
